REBUILDING A FOUNDATION FOR RUNNERS
The Nike Run Club app had grown heavy over time — layered with features, built on aging infrastructure, and difficult to evolve. Our team was tasked with re-platforming the experience to modern frameworks and re-centering it around what matters most: running. The goal was to make the app faster, clearer, and more flexible for the future.

SIMPLIFYING THE EXPERIENCE
We restructured the app around four key pillars: Feed, Activity, Run, and Club. Each built to serve a specific moment in a runner’s journey. The Feed brought inspiration and community to the forefront. Activity tracked progress and highlighted milestones. Run focused on quick starts and guided coaching plans, while Club fostered friendly competition through leaderboards and events.

DESIGNING CONSISTENCY AND CLARITY
Across these sections, we built a unified card system and visual language that carried Nike’s confidence without ever distracting from the run. Map overlays, stats, and coaching content were refined into a modular design system — flexible enough to scale as new features emerged, and efficient enough to speed up both design and development.
BUILDING A CONNECTED COMMUNITY
To bring runners closer together, we introduced tools for cheering, commenting, and sharing. Post-run visuals could be customized with Nike stickers, before publishing to the feed or social. These quick, expressive moments turned individual runs into shared motivation — deepening the sense of belonging within the Nike running community.

EVOLVING THE ECOSYSTEM
The NRC relaunch set the foundation for Nike’s broader digital evolution — influencing future updates to the Training Club and Shopping apps. By blending performance with brand expression, we created a running experience that feels both powerful and effortless.

This project was created in collaboration with Andrio Abero, Chip Truex, Adi Zuccarello, Judy Kim, Martha Koenig and our friends at Nike Digital.
